30 Day Shred DONE!

For years I have tried to work out……and I always stopped.

In college, I had trouble working out consistently what with all the papers and assignments due.  Sometimes I was lazy.  When I was pregnant/nauseous/recently post partum it was rough.

But finally….I was able to find my groove.  And I have now finally completed Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred.

Workout and exercise

The answer?  For me it was a mental choice.  I had to reach the place where I absolutely would not allow myself to quit.  I knew I couldn’t say, “I’ll try the first ten days and see how it goes from there.”  or “I’ll give it a shot.”  Nope.  “I AM going to do the 30 Day Shred!”  “I will not stop.”  “I will finish this!”

My motivation came and went.  Some days I had to force myself to press play and do the workout.  Some days I didn’t push myself as much as I could have and I “phoned it in” (to use Jillian’s phrase).

But I did it.  And being able to say “I finished” makes it worth it!  Seeing some more definition in my arms, feeling the new muscle in my legs, having some of my baby pooch disappear makes it worth it, and the energy boost after every workout makes it worth it.

One little tip…..on most days I would turn on a TV show during the workout.  This kept me from focusing on the “I’m going to die” thoughts.  😉  Usually it was Gilmore Girls, so it was something that I didn’t need to pay a ton of attention too, but it was a bit of a distraction during the workout.

I am super excited to check this off my 101 in 1001 list and I am even more excited about getting in better shape and taking care of my body!

  1. …I have this one on my computer and I got a couple weeks in? But never made it 30 days. I never tried with a tv show in the background though, maybe I’ll do that!

  2. Woohoo!! Go Bonnie!! I’m so proud of you! I know the feeling of trying to just finish a program. I think I’ve found the shorter ones are better for me. I can stick with them thinking I only have a few more days lol
