Book Shelf Organization

I loooove books.  Any time I have extra money, a book is at the top of my list of things to buy.  There are dozens of books on my wish list.   There are over 300 books on my shelves.  There’s nothing quite like the cozy feeling that comes over me when I walk into our room and see all my books on our shelves.

My left shelf is my fiction area.  Top shelf is modern fiction, second shelf is classics (mostly Dickens, but a few other authors are mixed in), third and fourth shelves are my young adult/children section.  Fifth shelf on the bottom right begins my nonfiction section and contains my pregnancy books.

Do you have a personal library?  How many books do you have and how do you organize them?

  1. Um, yeah… 🙂 Sounds like our house. I’ve never counted our books, but we have four 6′ tall bookshelves in the living room, one in the den, plus a bookshelf on top of my desk… 🙂 We sort of have ours organized by genre as well. One shelf is classics. One shelf is part marriage, part writing. Two shelves are Christian fiction, one is my husband’s graphic novels, etc. And then we buy more books and they don’t fit in the right shelf… 🙂 Organization is an ongoing problem!!!! 🙂

  2. Great photos of your library. I love seeing people’s bookshelves. I’m actually in the process of organizing my library since we just moved. I want to do it by genre and then by author, and it is looking like I need more bookshelves than I ordered heh.

  3. I’ve never had a great spot to store our books so unfortunately they get packed away in a box or given to someone else to read. I recently got a kindle just so I could organize my books (lol virtual books) and not have to hide them away.
